Credits and licenses

Wordday has a separate word list for each language (English, Deutsch, Español, Français). The lists are built from open data. We are grateful to the people who create and maintain it.

Data sources

• Words, word forms and usage labels:Wiktionary, by its contributors, licensed underCC BY-SA 4.0 and the GFDL. We use the machine-readable extract published by kaikki.org (Tatu Ylonen, Wiktextract).
• Word frequencies:FrequencyWords by Hermit Dave, built from theOpenSubtitles 2018 corpus, licensed underCC BY-SA 4.0. We use it to pick everyday words as answers.
• Words we never use as answers: theList of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene, and Otherwise Bad Words, licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Reusing the word lists

Our answer lists and accepted-word lists are licensed underCC BY-SA 4.0. You may reuse them if you creditWordday (wordday.chanyama.com) and the sources above, and share any adapted version under the same license.

Corrections

The answers are chosen automatically from common words, without a manual review of every word. If an answer is offensive, obscure or not a real word, or a word you expected is not accepted, please tell us at[email protected].
